Are you sure you haven't double clicked on any field? Or are creating any new objects?
Usually when you hear this it means you still have another window open that is being focussed.
You need to close the focussed window in order to select the window that is currently in the background (your object editor).
Check if you might have exidentally moved the focussed window to the bottom, top or side of your screen.

If you are having annoying sounds, you can download Jass NewGen Pack and it will have a feature to mute editor sounds. lol. That most likely won't "solve" your problem but if it has no effect on your creation, then it should be fine.
