CHAOS V0.5.2Beta

CHAOS or Custom Hero Aeon of Strife is an all new A.O.S (Aeon of Strife) map with several new features along with some renowned features.

PLEASE NOTE: The newest version is very unstable and since I haven't worked on the map for months. Go to the last page and I will make a post there attaching the last stable version. Thanks

Features include:

Custom Heroes:
All heroes have 2-4 classes from which they can choose skills from ensuring free development of your hero. Chaos currently has over 150 skills to choose from.

Three Way Setup:
Chaos is based on a three-way A.O.S. setup allows fun action packed chaotic gameplay. The three races are Wildlings (based on Night elves), the Soulless (based on undead) and Righteous blades (based on humans). Your race has no effect on which heroes you may choose. The win system is also a variation: Unlike in other three way AOS maps, the game ends when any main building is destroyed. The team whose total building life is the largest at the end of the game wins.

Strategic Points:
Strategic points is An all new unseen feature. Across the map there are 4 "Strategic Points". Capturing them will not only improve your gold income, but also improve your creeps.

Upgradeable Creeps:
Not only does chaos have a selection of upgrades it also has a small amount of temporary bonuses for your creeps, to give them the edge when is needed.

Item System:
Chaos has an item system, causing heroes not to be able to use more than one item of the same type. Types include: Weapon, Staff, Boots, Armour and Artefact.

Monster Shrines:
Across the map monster shrines is scattered. Using them will summon creeps based on your level.

Large Variety:
Chaos currently has 50 fully customizable heroes and more than 120 items and item upgrades.

Firstly Win Condition is selected. In last team standing you need to kill both teams, while in sudden death the team whose total building life is the most when a player is defeated wins.
Game modes is then selected. In standard a hero may be selected multiple times by different players. In classic a hero may only be selected once by a player and in all random all players get random heroes.
As you can see, chaos has a large selection of game modes.
Above is a screen shot of enchanted creeps modes. In this mode creeps have a chance to spawn with a special ability. This wave of creeps deal AOE damage and has bonus damage.


All the altars currently available.
The warship has the bonus ability to fire all his cannons and annihilate those who come to close.

    well ur map is far below 4mb
    so it is recommended for playing on the bnet
    i hadnt any problems with too long DLs...well okay...i have a 16k connection...so ...xD

    You could make "Storm Weaponry" an Trigger/Channel effect, or like Poison Every strike the "Poison" level increases by 1 and if poison is Lvl X Create Chain Lightning... AND REMOVE POISON EFFECT XD

    Sorry about the mayor delay... but i'm adding some new items. Oh btw... You now the first time you buy an ability it lags... Should I make that it lags immediatly when you enter the map with a message: Preloading abilities... Please wait.
    I just can't get the dam thing to load the abilities on initialization.

    Mmmm. I could change storm weaponry but the real reason why I think I'm not going to is due to the lag assosiated with such systems (this is coming from a mapmaker whose map is quite lag friendly). I used to have several such systems but on b-net it lagged so bad it immediaty freezed (okay, sorda). Well I'll consider it if my map is less laggy.:grin:

    The win condition can get pretty frustrating.

    Can we at least make it so that red can make it a game where 2 teams have to die instead of 1 ? Two teams beating down on 1 ends the game and then you have to start another one without feeling like you really had a fun game out of it.

    The reason why I wanted my map to end when one player is defeated is that you can immediatly host a new game on B-net and all the players that played with you can join again if they want.... Else they just join dota games:sad:

    I got this idea. In the : Last Team Standing mode (haha my new name where you have to kill both teams) Maybe instead of normal AOSes where the creeps just run around and attack the player from the other side, the creeps should stop spawning and instead you have x2 creeps vs the last player causing there to be one lane of total chaos with 3 heroes at each side!!! This will also ensure a lot more action and thus a shorter game:wink:

    :thumbs_down:no, any lag on b-net makes it worse to play. and frankly, there is currently a lot of lag and spikes when we play. certain abilities, like meteor, has no effect on the host because (ask KYTON i actually did this) just dodges it all. and spells that target a location really becomes useless seeing that players won't be at the location that was targeted. :xxd:

    well they dont need to know how to fit into their team...they should just follow their scripts and make it their own way...
    skills which have been already chosen will be upgraded (unless the player hasnt chosen all 5 abilities)
    and if they already have some items,they could sell all of their stuff and buy that items which are listed in their scripts

    so it actually would work IMO...

    its still better than staying there...doing nothing...and beeing easy food for enemies >_>

    Wh1pl4sh could you please stop complaining about my map! Yes. I know some of the spells is less effective because on online play it is harder to time. YES. I know there is sometimes some lag spikes. But a kind reminder: This is a mapmod community and we prefer constructive:wink: comments not just plain negative comments.:angry: I am working on the lag! Every version I bring out lag less and less...

    I'm currently having MAYOR problems with my 4vs4vs4 system which conflicts with more or less all the systems I have currently in my map. I will do it in the future, but the next update will contain only updates on current systems as well as the new win system dialog allowing you to choose between 2 win systems. I am also adding several new items.:cute:

    I currently don't think I will impliment an AI system. The time and effort will greatly exceed the amount of work I will put into it. I might do it later this vacation, but don't expect it in the next few versions.

    Too map moderators. Could you please review versions after the next version I am going to release since currently C.H.A.O.S. is in the initial stages of BETA so it has a large amount of bugs and it would both spare your time if you reviewed the map on a later stage.

    People. I have been thinking. I could make my grant my current computer to be open slots. Players can play in that slots and then is the same player as the creeps, BUT I will add triggers to stop them from controlling the creeps.

    what about the army upgrades its units with the gold every now and then and the players can also buy upgrades, like an extra unit per wave with a cooldown, like 2min? because players can really feed off the ai hero. ai should be for "home practice" when ur caps up or ur cons down, not for playing with other people at lans or on b.net. i have an idea about players leaving the game. in dota (ok, i know all of u hate dota, but so what?) players that leave the game can be controlled by players on the leavers' team. then u have a circele of power in ur base next to ur fountain where u can "freeze" the hero, making him unable to move, unable to cast spells and invulnerable. so the hero just stands there like a statue. that will work better than the ai i think.

    *OFF* oh, my "edit button" didn't work so excuse all the posts, went on a deleting spree when i got on. i edited this post like 9 times or something. very tedious process, u have to edit, then go back to this page from the first page of posts...and i'm lazy today. *OFF*

    there are still some bugs with modes and abilities i discovered this morning and the bug where u cant buy anything and cant cast spells is still there, just to let you know.

    sigh, KYTON, why don't you say "thank you wh1pl4sh, for all those hours on the phone trying to make CHAOS a better map and all those maths periods where i got thrown out of class because i have an awesome idea i just had to share with you?"

    strange. but then again, S.A.'s con aint very gud for that matter. but sometimes it shows you about 1 screen every 1.5-2seconds and that gets iritating. plus if too many players are casting spells the whol game just stops and freezes for a few seconds then continues again. i really don't know why im spending time posting and wasting my cap playing this on b-net since the creator just threatens me with negative rep, deleting my posts and frikken ban me or something.

    i think it's called friendship, but i'm not really sure.

    anyway, your system should work on lan, but on b-net it can be disastrous. maybe if KYTON figured some way to reduce lag to almost 0 (b-net always has lag) it'll be cool

    show it gets really frustrating for me and crashtestdummy to explain the map and to explain the lag when first ability is chosen, so plz say that at the start of the game or add that "-new" command that uve been talking about. could help "new players" (i.o.w. n00bs)

    I could make the bounty award trigger based? Via triggers grant the additional gold and then if a normal creeps kills a unit a unit you don't get the gold? That could work.

    The idea that the units change is a great one, but I will need a lot of upgrade space. I thought that instead of my current upgrades you have one for each unit. As the units evolve they get bonuses and change from model. Below is the various models. The model on level 1 and before you researched an upgrade is the same, but their colorig will change slightly. The > model is on level 2 and the >> on level 3. This idea is just an idea and the there is still quite a chance I won't do it and rather work on other stuff.

    Level 3: +225. Massive Blow: Attacks deal 25% of damage in an aoe. Gold 500

    As for the 4vs4vs4 mod. I really want to add it and would like it if all the players had heroes. There is a possibility that I will make that the creeps that spawn is neutral hostile/extra and victim and I then cause them to be allied with you with triggers and change their names. Unfortunatly... This is easier said than done and conflicts with some features I currently have...

    The other option is to cause a normal hero players to have creeps which they can't controll. The problem with this is the gold. The creep player will gain far more gold since he will kill more creeps. Also I will then need to add some hardcore triggers to prevent controll over the units.

    I could also grant a percentage of the creeps to all the players. They then take turns in which creeps they have:

    Option 1: 1 Footman + Supportive Spellcaster + Additional unit (either siege or captian)
    Option 2: 1 Footman + Archer
    Option 3: 1 Footman + Archer

    Which player begins with wat option is decided randomly at wave 1. All players will then have more or less the same gold income.

    Each time a wave spawns ownership of all the buildings will change to the next player, causing each player to have a wave in which they controll their team's buildings. What do you think of this idea of each player having a shared controll over the buildings/creeps? I could then make that if the team have less players they own more creeps and thus have an increased gold income?

    no, C.H.A.O.S. is more of a hero vs. hero map, not a hero+creeps vs. hero+creeps (as in the creeps are controlled by the players), that would make it a normal Vanilla map with custom terrain and heroes.

    Um wiplash I don't think you get it. You OWN the creeps. But you don't CONTROLL them. You just get their gold if they kill something. You can't order the creeps to do something. I might even make that you can even select them. This will not change the gameplay that drasticly. You might just get more angry if people kill creeps since they might sometimes be yours. It is an option if I want to make the map 4 vs 4 vs 4? And what do you think about the alternate upgrades instead of my current system?
