Changing the maximum value of an item?

So i made this easy system for level requirements on items. It checks the level of the item, and if its greater than the level of the hero, he cant use it. Problem is, items have a maximum level of 9, so my question is, is there a way to change the maximum level of an item or am i going to have to redo my entire system?

use a custom integer for the items' levels then check the custom integer and there u go.
