This is the map developement thread for my campaign titled "Rise of the Storm Caller" the idea factory thread is here

The basic layout of this campaign is a dwarf attempts to regain his powers and warn the dwarven lords of an impending invasion from demons, as he fights he gains powerful allies and learns more behind the truth to his banishment.

After the shocking truth is revealed he can take one of two paths: Destroy or Save the world.

Gameplay for now is still based off standard wc3 battle engine, however many things in the interface have been changed, an inventory is most likely going to be added, as well as talents and a rune system, mana regeneration will be quick as to keep the fast pace brawl style of this campaign rolling through the levels. Interactable items and boss fights will be in as well, even usable items that may have a specific purpose later in the campaign or might just be phat lewt.


The first boss fight will be kind of a taste as to what you will experience in the campaign, it is a town nearby the fields in which the first level takes place, you are on ramparts and have to fire balistae at raging demon, but be wary for the fire boulders he hurls at you, if you allow the balistae to be destroyed you lose. Meanwhile the local militia as well as a massive regiment of fighters from the nearby city will be flooding in to hold the beast far enough for you to aim the balistae at it.



Power and Spells: Power slightly affects your DIRECT damage spells, such as lightning strike, it will only receive power bonus on the direct effect. Power gives 1.5 spell damage per point
Power and Attack: Attack slowly increases with power, it gives .25 damage per point

Enchanted Hammer - Passive
You have a 10% chance to unleash one of three effects when Attacking
Chain lighting that deals 65 damage to 8 targets
Forked Lightning that deals 130 to 4 targets
Lightning strike that deals 300 damage to 1 target


Level 1 Abilities:
Thunder Strike:
Lightning Slams into the target, dealing 105 damage to the target and creating a thunder clap, dealing an additional 45 damage to all nearby enemies in the area and slowing them by 20%.
Blaze:
Sets the target on fire, dealing 20 damage per second for 5 seconds.
Hurl Boulder:
Hurls a boulder at the target, dealing 65 damage and stunning it for 2 seconds.

Level 4 Abilities:
Lighting Elemental:
Summons a fearsome lightning elemental that lasts for 60 seconds.
Sunder:
Attack with concussive force, dealing 180 damage and lowering the target's armor by 10, if the target drops below 0 armor, the armor will fragment and deal 35(Armor lost below 0) damage to nearby enemies, lasts for 15 seconds.
Consuming Flames:
If used while the target has blaze on them, they will take 200 + 8(Time Remaining(Damage Per second)) Damage, otherwise they will only take 200 damage.

Talent Point: Level 5
Talents:
Rolling Storm:
When a lightning spell has been cast, there is a 7% chance it will strike a second time.
Earth Shaker:
Earth spells are stronger:
- Hurl boulder now deals 90 damage and stuns for 2.5 seconds
- Sunder deals 210 damage and lowers armor by 12, fragmentation factor is now increased to 40 and the duration to 20 seconds.
Pyromaniac:
Fire spells are slightly stronger and have a chance to ignite the target, causing an explosion:
Blaze deals 22 damage per second for 6 seconds
Blaze ignite deals 100 damage to target and surrounding enemies
Consuming flames deals 205 + 9(Time Remaining(Damage Per Second))
Consuming flame ignite deals 140 damage and if the target has blaze, it will spread blaze, but will not spread blaze again for 75 seconds.



Runes: Level 3
Defensive:
Rune of minor deflection:
Reduces damage taken by 12, lasts 120 seconds
Offensive:
Rune of minor striking:
Gives a 5% to deal 1.4(damage), lasts 120 seconds
Elemental:
Rune of healing mist:
Heals for 65 - 215

Runic Mastery
Level 5:
Power Runes:
Empowers your rune, increasing the effect by 50%, but reduces the duration by 30 seconds:
- Rune of deflection now reduces damage taken by 18 for 90 seconds
- Rune of striking now has a 7% chance to deal 2.1(damage) for 90 seconds
- Rune of healing mist heals 120 - 220
Runic Knowledge:
Runes with direct damage and healing effects have a 4% chance to be a critical (double)
- Rune of healing mist heals for 130 - 430 on critical


Note: Abilities level up when the next tier are available, for example, when your are level 4 your level 1 abilities will advance, your enchanted hammer spell will grow stronger after certain events throughout the campaign, these are just what spells and abilities will be in the demo, expect talents to have anywhere from 1 - 3 levels and runes will be gained through combat (effective forumla still being worked out).

I should have a fully functioning demo working and ready to roll soon, as well as (preferably 4) playable maps by the end of the month (that is the goal at least).
