i have a lot of respect to no-animated doodads, i use them more than the animated when i use presets.
i like no- animated when you have to use the same doodad a lot of times and don't want some sort of saturation in the visual feeling.
and now im feeling like the lawyer of this user.
visual movement brings life to warcraft3 that warcraft3 does not have, not all doodads need to move, but moving ones are important to make an environment not look like its made of cardboardy plastic, such as the warcraft3 windmill and other in game buildings like the slaughter house, seaweed, the flag props ect ect.
plants need this especially in my opinion because plants blow in the wind, they are not ageless immortal card board immune to the power of the wind. warcraft3 plants are all card board, the more animated plants you have, the more alive you're nature environment will be.
biggest problem with animated plants is making them look smooth and ok. that takes time. this plant is fine just as it is, but would gain a lot from just slight wiggles here and there. it adds basically no space and adds so much more realism.
if you do it right, using a lot of the same doodad does not sync up the animations, and they all appear at random. giving them stand 1 and stand 2 or even stand 3 is effective for this as well, but screws up you're ability to build stand portrait - 1, which only matters if you want the plant to be used as a ward, other wise stands 1-3 are perfect for generating random animations that don't saturate you're environment with plants that all seemingly wiggle in perfect unison.
I can tolerate non animated doodads, they are everywhere, and many are great, but I cannot RESPECT them more then well animated doodads. because of the work and the time it takes to do it properly.
just my opinion of course.
