I tried shading it, but it looked HORRIBLE. Trust me on this
Anyways, i'll try to fix it without shading. Instead, i'll make the left side lighter, so that the right side would look darker relatively. And sorry i multi-uploaded. I didn't know D:

Seriously though.
You should try with another color scheme, the yellow/red makes it look quite cartoony, too cartoony. You should also try to add some more details. You could zoom it in a bit and see how that would look, I think it will look better.

Its not perfect but a great start. You got the structure down, but definitely add some shading all over. Try looking at a 3d object in real life for reference. Find a light source and go to work.

An updated, shaded version has a 5/5 from me.

Oh, and you could mirror the icon so its not basically the same exact one as the Blizzard Icon that is Eaglehorn in DotA.

And I think the brown parts of the handle should be a tad bigger than the rest of the bow.

I have an idea that could make this look less plain. Maybe you could zoom in on the handle area and above it and add more definition? Like instead of showing the whole bow, just show the top half and square it up above the handle and stuff. Just an idea though. Looking better =]

That's an AWESOME idea!
I just have to figure out how i'm going to crop the image in Photoshop and get to be perfectly squared
After i do that i'll upload the icon, and i'll see if i can enhance the shape a bit

It looks really nice, but I'm tellin you it needs a bit more shading. Like square it up a bit and tone down the yellow a bit. Take a look at this gold bar. See how its kinda brownish and even being gold, it's not too bright. You're really on a good track though. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the advice I'm doing my best to fix this icon, and knowing that all i have left is the shading makes me feel better I'm working on it right now.

EDIT: I finished editing the icon. I toned the yellow done a bit, so now it looks like actual gold and i fixed the shading ... again

EDIT2: Change of Plans. Sorry guys but i can't upload the icon because ... well... it's a very long story, but let's just say that my USB (that i use to transfer files between my MAC and Windows Partitions since the volume on Windows is greater than 32 GB thus not FAT), is well... "OCCUPIED" .. yeah that works. Anyways, i won't be able to update this icon until at least Wednesday (Maybe Tuesday if i'm lucky) (NOTE: My timezone is GMT+2)

UPDATE: I increased the quality of the icon and made the texture of the bow closer to that of gold.

One final thing you can do is add some highlights where the brown comes to the gold to make it look more 3D. It is definitely looking excellent though! 5/5
