Sin'dorei300: It seems that there's a bit too much black space.
The subject is interesting, it could use an interesting bg.
The red paint or whatever it is needs shading too.
Those black portions of the staff make it look too cartoonish, i suggest u to use variations of the base color instead of using black.
Also, the blue reflection(if it's a blue reflection) needs more work, it doesn't look good.
Lastly, improve the shading on the whole staff.
