It's a nice icon indeed. It's just too bad that it has lost some quality; the drawn picture beneath icons are even better than the final result. ^^

Cool angle, well done. It does need shading, though. You're right that metal is more in need of highlights, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be shaded. Just a dash of high-contrast shading in a few corners with smooth blending make it look more realistic, trust me.
