blizzard activated the wrong tavern brawl

instead of too many portals they activated spiders everywhere. how is that even possible?

Blizzard once gave people logging into Diablo III the wrong account so they appeared as the wrong player (complete with wrong characters and wrong inventory). Stuff just happens and I am sure they will quickly fix anything major.

the issue was reported fixed the same day but, that kind of mistakes is bad.

Microsoft once released a patch with permanently bricked the original Xbox 360 (or one manufacture there of). This is hardly a major blunder.
