So lately i have been working on a fun project called The Adentures of Ben Blake, a fictional character i've made up with a few friends over the past few months. It sort of a mini RPG for 2 players (at the moment) with a fixed storyline, as things evolve further i could expand. But i prefer to start small and only try think bigger once the basics are up.

Main question:
Although im pretty happy how most of the terrain has been turning out, im really not happy about the rivers i've made. As you can see by the pictures its not really fitting in, do you guys have any ideas of how to make more advanced rivers?

i could try to add the FXwaterfall model (UTM) to the conventional waterfall i'm using right now to create some more depth but the waterfall is still very limiting by itself.

From my point of view your terrain seems very good, and the river too.
I don't really see what's wrong? Maybe it's just the color, too much blue?
You may try to tint the water and waterfalls to match the color scheme of your terrain and sky. Personally i often base my maps on "Dalaran Ruins" because the water color is almost white and thus allows a lot of flexibility in tinting.

I'd try the white waterfall model and possibly make the models smaller, with multiple streams and some more smaller rocks sticking out here and there and place the smaller streams in a way to make the water appear to flow around them, instead of one flat belt.
I'm too tired to speak in a non retarded way, hope you got what I meant lol.

I would do that! Also that fog is kind of odd to me o_0
Another thing tho, try tinting that waterplane model to better integrate it into your terrain.

so i've remade both the regulair and UTM waterfall model last night, so they are horrizontal and i've removed their water effects. I'll try to remake the rivers with those edited waterfall models and add the water effects where they are needed most. Its probably going to be a combination of both waterfalls.

The regulair one is going to be the collor and the UTM one is going to be the water flowing detailed. I'll post an update when i got one.

Looks like Gears of War color scheme.

I'd add more color to the map. Perhaps try other fogs.

Im planning to add a little more collor once Talavaj releases his enviromental pack. But i also want to keep the collors kinda of monotone to try and set a (Brothers Grimm style) sober atmosphere. So im going to experiment with a few bright collors in combination with the sober collors it has now.

There is also a day/night cycle with the windows/laterns going on and off.

I'd try adding more black. Right now it's brown everywhere. For that style, I'd honestly try adding black and grey tones.
