For the longest time now, I've wanted to create my own map. But, I don't want to use exsisting skins for everything. However, I'm not a real expert on making skins, triggers, or spells.

Can anyone tell me what programs would be necessary/helpful... and also, if anyone has any helpful tutorials on making skins, spells and triggers? Any help would be helpful.

ok..I'll try to help you!!

First off. Find out what kind of map you want to make. Then find a map that is in the same category (AOS, TD etc u nam it)
There you can learn from the terrain and triggers. Trust me. It's NOT that hard.
When you have done this, and still ned some help. Look for tutoials here and at this site ]. After you have done this and have been playing with the Allmigthy World Editor for 1-3 hours. Contact uss again and we shall give you a hand to guide you inn your journy into the world of map making!!

When it comes to skinning, you should wait for help from a different person and download skins from this place!

I use 3 programs when I Skin.
WarCraft 3 Viewer - http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tools&ID=11&sid=500181c31045148eb2f2394adc718f66. I use this to convert my Skins from TGA -> BLP and BLP -> TGA, I also some times use this to extarct Skins I want to edit.
WC3 Image Extractor 2 - http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tools&ID=6&sid=500181c31045148eb2f2394adc718f66. I use this prgram mainly to extract Skins.
Adboe PhotoShop - I use this to edit the Skins I want to.

Great, thanks for the advice along with the information pages...

The only thing I have to do now is find a map that isn't protected, I've tried to do this before using the world editor as a guide for triggers, but every map I've wanted to learn from was protected :/
