well I could make them team colored... but that wouldnt do much as a doodad, what colors?

Like a different variety in case people won't like the colour green, eg. red, blue, yellow etc.

yeah red will fit since blood elves are mostly red, green, and yellow. but i'll rate it 5/5 and very good as a doodad

I'll suggest using the neruiban ziggurat crystal texture, it gives a more "bloodelfish" feeling.
+ You can make one version with the green standart crystal texture from the nerubian ziggurat, and one teamcolour version.

But looks nice nonetheless

Though Id expect the crystal to be taller and have some inner glow like dem others green blood elf crystals.
