An armored phoenix is a good idea indeed. Maybe add some metal on his back-tail too? And his wings cuts through armour pads that looks kinda bad for me.

The model is a basic geomerge, isn't optimized and has several issues (regarding visibility and clipping). While the idea behind it could be salvageable, this model is simply not good enough for Hive standards.
