This terrain of my new map, which I will upload here soon. Models weigh a little bit, but I think the quality is worth to mention the importance of maps.
I dunno, but I bet that grass is shaded ingame. It is possible to remove those shading effects quite easily in a model editor. Ask in the model forum for help. I think it will look way better if it weren't shaded.
they look bad because of the fact that the amount of aa required to make them look good would make them look like tiny little toothpicks with a bit of colour mainly
Gotta love how whenever there is a wow model in a terrain, people feel the need to point it out >.>
Anyways, personally I think it looks very bland, there isnt much going on in the terrain. That grass looks horrid, but thats due to the shadows, as has been pointed out, right now it makes it look like there are some thin spikes comming up from the ground, or some feedback playing on the ground, not very realistic.
well to be quite honest with this terrain its that the models look really nice but the actual terrain is barely there - there's two tiles, with one dominating quite a lot, and a bit of height variation, but really, it's extremely boring, even with the extra special models. Combining good use of the models and good terrain and all that is the actual challenge with this kind of thing
Exactly. And I like it tho...
I'm not quite sure about that part on the right... Is that a person or what? 0.o
Oh, and as for the fence, if it's meant to keep things out of it, it should be turned to other side. This way it's like prison fence, trying to keep things inside.
But then, pointing out what it is isnt a good reason for not being creative, as I've quoted TOO many times already "Just because it's realistic, it doesn't have to look good."
Yeah, I see what you mean, but the terrain I saw feels like winter (especially along with the enhancing effect of the white fog, he captured the freezing environment quite perfectly), you know, and the fact that it doesn't remind me of Warcraft is a huge pro.
Anyway, it's just my opinion. I would love to play a map with that terrain. :]
