Like Derp said,you can loose or tighten the snares
But also,every intrument in a drumkit is unique because they are mostly hand crafted(yes there are drumkits which are made by machines etc,but you can encounter hand crafting too,as a good drumkit from a good brand is mostly hand crafted) so you can't have an exact copy of an instrument from another drumkit,like The Rev's for example
 
You can loosen/tighten snares, and there are different sizes of snare drums. His is likely larger/smaller than what you're using.

(The Rev's snare is a 14"x5" snare)

The size plays a big role on the sound produced.
