Assault on Caer Portalis v.113

VGsatomi: A nice AoS type defense map with a bandit siege theme. Great terraining. Could probably use some more scripted events for fun.

No Map Preview and loading Screen
Heroes are poor!
Abilities don't have proper description
Some doodads are too much scaled
Also units can walk through rocks
Destructibles are not invulnerable (Hero can destroy half map)

Creep spawn systems
Hints
Multiboard
Town (Terrain)

You can (and must), add more heroes, abilities, items....

For now only 2/5 but I will not rate it because I don't like to ruin map reputation!
Please fix map and upload better version!

The contest had a "No Import" rule, so I never bothered getting a Preview or Loading Screen. Destrutibles being invulnerable, I'm guessing you're mainly talking about the Trees and the few barrels I have. That shouldn't be too hard to fix.

What do you mean by the Heroes being poor? Poor as in money wise, or poor as in poorly made. If poorly made, I can't argue. Making Heroes is far from my strong point when it comes to mapping.

All heroes were from wc3, I mean Paladin, Mountain King....
Btw. ability for mountain king that regenerate hp was without description, hp reg rate was always 0.

Yes, all the Heroes have the same names as from WC3, but they're not the same heroes. WC3 Mountain King has Thunder Clap, Storm Bolt, Bash, and Avatar. My Mountain King has Thunder Clap, Hammer Time, Drunken Stupor, and Avatar. Avatar and Thunder Clap, are, based off the normal Mountain King abilities, but Drunken Stupor and Hammer Time aren't the same.

That's how most of the heroes were created. They have one or two default abilities that were re-worked, normally their WC3 Ultimate and one of their defaults, and then 2 new ones.

Try the Tauren Chieftain, Shadow Hunter, or Paladin. That's the three classes I normally play.

if you wouldn't mind, changing the file name to match the actual map name more closely is a little helpful. Or people would scroll through their Map Folder and see Caer. Then they start looking for the map in-game. Under C, they can't find it and they'd be like "wtf?".

Maybe name the file Assault Caer [insert version# without brackets].w3x
Changing the map name ourselves is unadvisable because in online play, the map name must be exactly the same, and the same should match the default.

While I agree that the heroes are poor, the overall polish of this game is fantastic.
The terrain is nothing short of godly, and the spawn systems are wonderful.
The only complaint i would lodge against the spawn systems is that they hold few surprises and, once predicted, the game can become too easy.

However,
the heroes are poor and few
the abilities that are based off WC3 are mostly fail, and only half the ones that are not are creative. (some examples of good ones, Paladin's knights, most of the ultis, the shadow hunter in general.)
The items are generic and few, there is no recipe system.

There is so much potential in this game. I do hope it gets fulfilled.

I know, Doc, that this is one of your favorite maps that I've made... if not the favorite, but I still consider it a Side Project. Once I get CB in the state that it needs to be, I'll work on this. But I really don't know what to do with it other than polishing up the spawn system and bandit movements :/

I'm very shitty at heroes and hero concepts.

Terrain and aspect of the map looks good in that it makes an adequate atmosphere of battle.
Some bugs:
-the Priestess of the Moon has Hide and Blink and if Attribute Bonus is selected before the ultimate or any other spell is selected in order for all of the available spaces under Attack, Stop, Patrol & Hold Position to be occupied there's a possibility for a spell not to appear and not to be able to be used
-there are only 4 levels in the description of spells in the level up menu of the heroes

Some spells need a more specified description.
I don't think upgrades should have cooldown.

Edit:The Shadow Hunter's Animate Dead can revive Tauren Chieftain's rocks.
It's very much impossible to destroy any enemy tower in three players. So basically there is no way back if the enemy occupies one of the allied settlements.

Edit 2.0: I edited the map in order to play it in three players. The cooldown of upgrades were halved and the bonuses the upgrades gave were doubled. It wasn't easy but not that hard either.
The enemy hero boss can be drawn out of his camp and made to follow players almost anywhere. The danger is he may attack the city without players being capable of dealing with him.
Allied troops have a circular pattern from the middle to the boss' camp (after he has been drawn out and the towers have been destroyed). They do not search for enemy units on other pathsways.
