Arthas Campaign - Humans

Map Info:

I thought to myself, Why not to try something different? Why not to give Arthas Menethill other choice instead of turning to cold hearten Death Knight? this is about alternative timeline where Arthas is exposed to what might happen should he purge Stratholme, And by doing so changing the entire Warcraft III lore. I hope you would like it, Comments will be appreciated. And yes, Grammar Nazis will probably kill me.

Characters and Screen Shots:

Prince Arthas Menethil:
Prince Arthas is son of Terenas and Lianne Menethil, And Brother of Calia. Heir to the throne of Lordaeron and one of the most powerful paladins on Azeroth. Since in this time line Arthas will not claim Frostmourne, There's no telling how much that will affect the warcraft III History..

Terenas Menethil:
Terenas Menethil II was born in the court of the kingdom of Lordaeron, one of the strongest human nations, as a member of the royal Menethil family, which had ruled the kingdom for generations. An old friend of Thoras Trollbane, Terenas grew up to become a wise and just ruler, greatly loved by his people. His long years of reign saw peace and brought prosperity for Lordaeron. However, now his future might change..

She was escorted by her childhood friend and one-time romantic interest, Prince Arthas Menethil, to uncover if the plague had magical origins. In this time line she will have major affects on Azeroth's fate..

Bloody The Seeker(Custom Character):
Bloody is not a real warcraft lore character, I named him after my eurobattle account However Lore should be told. Bloody was born in Darrowshire, Bloody's family were poor as his father died durning the second war. Bloody has two brothers, however durning the Orc invasion his brother Marywn fell in battle. Bloody swore to protect the innocents and joined the order of the Silver Hand as a Paladin, under the guidence of Uther The Lightbringer. he moved with his other brother and mother to Hillsbrad, however their fate is unkown.

The Warsong Clan antagonizing the humans makes complete sense but not thralls forces. You see a Tuaren Cheiften in their ranks meaning Thrall already has met Caine and atleast heard about the oracle. Thrall would have already had Grom there(whom is missing?) for in the prior mission waging battle against the humans as in the original campaign. speaking of which the oracle. He is very in tune to the events of the world yet doesnt go to Jaina about going to Kalimdor, doesnt go to the humans of Kalimdor to tell them to meet up with him where he can bind an alliance between the horde and the alliance. On top of all of that you kill Thrall off which wouldnt have gone down like that, nevermind wanting to avoid conflict.

Thrall's forces reluctantly assisted Grom's in the original campaign and defeated the humans, before Thrall sent Grom to Ashenvale. In this timeline, Arthas and Jaina fought off the orcs, who retreated to Ashenvale. There, Arthas and Jaina's forces pursued the orcs and Grom was able to escape, but Thrall wasn't as fortunate. As for Medivh, he does inform King Terenas about what's going on in the beginning of WC3, but is dismissed. And he tries to convince Arthas in the cutscene right before where the culling of Stratholme mission.

Im not the biggest fan of alternative scenarios, but quality of this one makes it one of the best custom campaigns i have played. New maps and new missions not just remade original campaign. I love how the story doesnt make arthas this perfect hero that unites every race but he actually wipes out thrall and goes to war against trolls. There are some wierd interactions, like arthas being friendly with cenarius after killing a lot of elves and destroying the forest(literally what orcs did in original orc campaign lol).

The last mission is a bit clumsy, allies only walk in 1 path and you have to destroy a lot of building alone, it also could be harder. Having 3 palladins with similar abilites is also kinda boring, you get tons of healing and resurections but not much offensive power.
No major bugs, goblins stoped ther atacks after 2 in last mission.

Overall a great Campagin 9/10

I'd like to ask about the plot, why did Arthas listen to Cenarius and return to the Barrens? He was just killing night elves a mission ago.

In theory, Cenarius should have fought the humans, but since Grom had already drunk demon blood, the orcs were a greater threat to him, so Cenarius told Arthas to go home, which he did.

It's because this campaign's plot (and the whole series) contradicts the original WC3/WoW storylines. Seriously, we don't need more questions about this.

Do you think all the campaigns will work with version 1.29, which is the new one that Blizzard released?

Custom campaigns available in Hive like this one have their specific requirements. For most of part, they should work on all versions of Warcraft III, including even the latest Reforged patch (although Reforged still has a lot of bugs and errors, pertaining custom unit portrait/model in-game).

wonderful campagin, it's good see that you changed a lot of things not just use the original map

The campaign is a mixed bag. The missions are either strangely difficult or are challenging enough that it's at fun. The second mission has a bug with the 2nd cutscene that requires you to skip it or else you get softlocked. It'd be easy to fix if the author didn't make it so that nobody can edit the campaign or if they didn't abandon this campaign and fixed it themselves. The writing itself is honestly not the best, though it could be worse. Bloody the Scourge is a lame self-insert that really wasn't needed, Alexstraza is oddly the character the author chose to travel through space and time to convince Arthas to change his ways when it'd make more sense for an Infinite Dragon to do that instead, characters talk with weird grammar and phrases sometimes that you would never hear from a warcraft character and some dialog lines are on screen for far longer than they need to be, stretching out cutscenes. The biggest issue however is this: This campaign and the wider series as a whole are supposed to be an alternate timeline, yet the author still has events mostly play out the way the do in the prime timeline. The Lich King still gets a Champion, Kel'Thuzad is (somehow) resurrected still, Silvermoon somehow still falls, Uther still dies and later fills the Sylvanus role, Archimonde is still summoned, Dalaran is still destroyed, King Terenas still dies, the Battle of Mount Hyjal is still largely the same and many more. What is the point of writing an alternate timeline if most of the events are practically unchanged?

3/5 Stars for this Campaign and the others in the series.

The tone is consistent throughout the chapters, and most of the missions are fun to play, even though a small handful have softlocking bugs or are way harder than they really need to be. While the writing isn't perfect and the characters don't always act in believable ways, it is still way more consistent than the Turno-verse and is not needlessly difficult or complicated like Curse of the Forsaken is. I hope the author will continue to make Campaigns and improve their skills as they have a lot of potential, they just need to spend more time polishing their work before releasing it.

I'm afraid this project is abandoned. The author has left this forum 3 years ago for personal reason.
