So I'm making a survival horror map (still haven't thought of a name) that I'm just now starting. This is my first REAL map, however I'll try to make it as good as possible, and one way to do that is to get ideas and suggestions from you guys. Heres a basic rundown of what my map is / will be like:

Marine models for the characters, probably different classes to choose from (and a lot of grenades that maybe you can buy, and a sentry gun you can buy or a class can use). 1-5 players probably, for smaller tactical-ish gameplay, and gives you more of a feeling that you're alone. The map is completely dark except for lamps / torches (I figured that out thanks to this website ;p).

It takes place in a very old abandoned village (village fall themed) and you start in the middle of the map. There are places to go such as farms and graveyard to hide in (although it's not really hiding, the zombies / whatever horror things you want will find you anyway). Zombies / whatever come from caves in the mountains, all spread out across the map. As time progresses they get harder and harder, and you have to level up to be able to successfully defeat them (most likely). You have to survive for maybe 30 minutes or a certain time limit before you win.

Also, I thought this was a really cool idea: random "bosses". As in, in certain areas there are random bosses you find that are hard to defeat but you get rewarded greatly if you do defeat them. One of them I thought of is that at a certain time (like at the 15 minute mark) a skeleton mage will appear that will keep summoning skeletons at the graveyard to come and hunt you down, and you have to defeat the skeleton mage to stop the skeletons from coming. And if you go to the area with houses and stuff, you may find some creepy guy that walks around patrolling the area, and when he sees you he says something creepy, like "What?! Nobody... nobodys visited me IN YEARS. Ill make sure he gets a nice, warm welcome..." (I know that's probably REALLY cheesy, but just something creepy like that I guess).

Ideas I've thought of that you can go to to take refuge / to hide in / whatever: A park, a farm, near the houses (the main part of the village), the run down part of the village (buildings all messed up, etc.), an abandoned bandit camp outside of the village, a graveyard, and other things like that. I've also thought that you could maybe buy barricades to block off enemies to make defending a bit easier, and there can be random merchants in certain areas (or something) that you can buy grenades and barricades and stuff from.

Alright... I made up those ideas pretty quick, so some of them may not be the best ideas or anything, but please help me think of great ideas and all of you guys can be the testers when it's almost completed ;p

Some of you may think it's like a copy of that one zombie-ish gun game that I somehow forgot the name of, but it's not really as realistic and A LOT creepier than that is, and has unique random bosses and focuses more on a few people playing co-operatively. Also, I mostly need ideas for teamwork.

Alright, I'm done rambling. If you actually read all of that, thank you ;p

Wow, just looked below this topic, and that whiskers in the dark thing dominates everything I just said >_>

Well, this could just be more casual and easier to play in its own little way?

Instead of making a regular survival why dont you try to make it more funny with mummies for example and instead of marines for survivers trols for example( xD ) and i think the boss idead its not good unless you want to make it whith waves instead of keep them comming.

good luck on your project and dont give up.

Yeah, currently I'm doing just the terrain (and I've done a few test maps to figure out triggers, abilities, etc.) so I'll save it as 2 separate maps once I'm finished with the terrain. One could maybe be a serious one, and the other can be a more relaxed / humorous one like you suggested. It certainly would be a lot different than most survival games.
