this is my..... 18th! model. il be closing in on 20+ pretty soon now. ok, the back story of this model. This model was conceived about a week ago, one day, when I was at my work place office, I was playing the Reign of Chaos Campaign (I know right playing roc in 2013? like 4 reel?) when I was about to quit. I was exiting the Undead campaign when I noticed Kel'Thuzad standing in front of the ziggurat in the ice tunnel, with....lights? in the sky? they turned out to be northern lights or aurora borealis style emitters, curious, I exported it. and took a look.

Inspired by JesusHipster's ''Weather Effect Leaves''
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/models-530/leavesweathereffect-228986/?prev=search%3Dleaves%26d%3Dlist%26r%3D20

I decided to create a collection of weather effect models, because global weather effects are buggy, laggy, un editable and ugly. this aurora here is green, fading to teal then purple, I will add a blue fading to dark blue then purple variation, and a purple fading to pink and red variation as well.

the portrait file is the un animated variation, called:

UnAnimatedEnviromentalEffectAurorasAV039b.mdx

this is in case you wish to just paint the sky using triggers and dummy units in random patterns, and not be trapped by the way I animated it, it looks quite cute when you take a neutral passive vulture and just make its movement speed 50 or less and make is model the un animated version.

-----IMPORTANT!-----
my model has a small file size, yes, but at its peak it has 390 particles. I know this is a lot of particles but I aimed to be either on par, or below Jesus Hipster's leaves effect, which at its peak is 500. so I feel I accomplished my particle count goal. never the less I advise having no more then 8 to 10 copies of the auroras in one single screen at a time, this model does how ever have a massive area of effect, as well as high extent range of 4000, meaning you have to pan you're camera pretty far away from the particle source for particles to start to die. and even being out of the screen, panning back to it, particles are still alive for 40 seconds. stick to batches of 3 to 6 in different areas apart from each other if you wish to be healthy on memory.

-----EXECUTION------
this model has 3 animations, birth, which is practically blank, death, which just turns off emitters and stand, the great master piece. Stand animation takes 40 seconds to complete, meaning this model is classified as a DOODAD or DECORATION and NOT A WARD OR UNIT. the un animated version can how ever be used as a spell effect/dummy unit if you wished to do so.

stick to the size between 0.9 and 1.1
IF YOU EXCEED THE SIZE OF 1.1 the particles start to begin to gap. if you go below the size of 0.8 or 0.7 the particles start to over lap, picture a wall of light sabers, its basically opaque and you cannot see you're units under it, which becomes unplayable if you have 3 or 4 in you're screen. stick to 1.0 that's my advise. I also advise mixing up their directions that they face, have some facing towards the camera, and some away, the effect is very interesting.

IF YOU ARE USING THE UN-ANIMATED VERSION AS A DUMMY UNIT: RIG THE DEATH TIME SECONDS TO 40.001
people have been asking why I keep mentioning this, on all my flowers and plants, I will tell you now. this giant curtain of light was built to fade out from super bright to fainter to gone over 40 seconds, if you're dummy units death time is lower then that then all you're particles will vanish into phat air, like light sabers slurping back into the handle with that ''sheeeewwwww wishdge'' sound. instantly. not visually pleasant. set the death time seconds to 40.001 and they will all fade out evenly and beautifully even after you're dummy unit has died.

Credits to WILL THE ALMIGHTY for his excellent tutorials on how to mess with emitters:

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/3d-modeling-tutorials-282/making-effects-magos-advanced-techniques-2-a-67542/

without these, I would never have figured out how to make my animated lights contain nice smooth arching bands as they do using the Bezier Interpolation Mover types.

Credits to MiniMage for geomergeing vertexes for me so I could animate the model in MDLvis editor.

if you wish to edit my model you have my permission, if you wish to recolor it you may but I will be doing that shortly so don't bother if you think you're color jobs similar to mine, save you some time. all I ask guys is you do not upload my models onto other sites, and give me credits in you're map as a murloc named kellym0 god of the murlocs, kidding, but seriously guys >.> start doing that

have fun, and remember guys, don't do drugs. even if it seems REEEEEEEEEAAAAAALY COOOOOOOOOOOL MAAAAAAAAAAAN

---UPDATE 1---
fixed death animation a bit
---UPDATE 2---
fixed the death animation tiny bit more
---UPDATE 3---
fixed the description s bit it was in-accurate about the name of the portrait file

thank you edo494, im glad you like it, it does have a small file size download wise, but particle emitter wise, its quite massive, so don't spam it too hard =)
