So I went into world editor to open one of my projects today, and it gives me the error - Level info data missing or invalid. This makes no sense because it worked perfectly fine yesterday and I didn't edit it after playing like five test games yesterday. I have no clue what went wrong and can't find any similar topics. I've worked very hard on this map and maybe im stupid for not having a backup but perhaps there is a way to recover the file?

JNGP? <sorry really new to mapmaking
Edit: just looked it up, no i don't use jass but i kinda want to start learning how. is there a way downloading jass will fix this?

Open your Warcraft III folder. Go to "Maps" -> "Test" and then make a copy of WorldEditTestMap.w3x. Open it in the editor and see if it is your map. You may have to use that version instead.

The "Level info data missing or invalid" is generally a sign of your map being corrupted. It can happen for many reasons. Make sure you don't have an MPQ editor opened (if you don't know what an MPQ editor is, then don't worry about it). The error can also happen when your PC crashes while saving the map (or something similar).

Hopefully it is there in the "Test" folder. If not, you should try attaching it. You may be able to recover some of the files, if it is not completely corrupted.

P.S. JNGP stands for JassNewGenPack. You can download it here:

It adds some features to the standard editor, and it automatically creates backups of your map when you save (which is very handy when things go awry).
