AI Buys Items

How do I order AI to buy items like in DotA? There doesn't seem to be an action like that in GUI.

when hero enters and region, check if player owned by that AI hero has enough gold to purchase item. If yes, then reduce its gold and add item to entering (AI) hero. If no, do nothing.
This is a way I do it.

So if I have 26 items.. If this is the only way, I'll see.

use an item gold cost system so you don't have to manually store all 26 of the items.
