3dsmax 5 in Vista??

Hello everyone, how's life?

anyways, I've just updated to vista and after being able to install my educational edition of max 5, While installing arseholish license manager called "CDilla" says that "this software isn't compatible with this operating system" and it simply won't install. I was wondering myself if anyone was able to make CDilla work in Vista. I imagine that I have to transfer the cdilla files from my old computer to this one, make them execute with XP and rebuild the registries. Does anyone know anything related or anorther method?

I made this thread here instead of Warcraft Tools, since modellers should know more on how to fix this problem than programmers.

Could you try to run it in XP compatibility mode? It works sometimes

yeah, I always try that, until it comes to install CDilla, where (even with XP compatibility on), it says that message.

hmm :/ Well, ask someone who has max 9, they could maybe have a version that vista supports :/

3ds Max 9 works fine for me on my Vista

Yes, but that is 9, which probably has cdilla that vista supports. 5 is so old that vista wasn't even in plans back then when it was released.

Dio can run max 5 on vista I think, so it may be the problem somewhere else. However I had problems also on other operating systems (windows versions).

Have you tried running a virtual machine inside Vista that runs WinXP ? If you consider this, you might give VMware a try.

i have max 9 installed, but it no longer uses cdilla as a license manager(they dropped it by max 6). I'll try out VMware, but it surprises me since vista has support for XP
