Does anyone think about an “epic” experience with DotA having more than 10 players each side? I think that looks like a laggy experience and also think about other hero arenas like Angel arena with 24 players with it!
I’m considering to create AA with 24 Players which may lag/crash the game.

Any thoughts with Hero-only maps having more than 10 players?

If it was 24 players AA with poorly made and designed custom skills then there would be lag and crashes.

If it was 24 players AA with well made and sensibly designed custom skills there would be no lag or crashes.

Hero-only maps are good candidates for 10+ player maps as you don't have to worry about map size or too many units creating lag/pathing-related crashes. In this day and age it is much better for a map to be adaptable to any player number, as a new map will struggle to fill a 24 player lobby. So if you do create your 24 player dream map, it should be playable with a reasonable number such as 6 players.

Also player number affects balance (more players may favor AoE CC type abilities, whilst less may favor single target abilities). It's manageable with 12 player maps but as you delve into 24 players you'll find that balance will be much harder to maintain. And as most of us here probably have fond memories of, balance was the biggest issue for AA maps which ultimately led to their loss of popularity.
