I was thinking to make Varian Wrynn. But you share your thoughts too.

For making Variant points would be lost just for the idea of doing referencing.
I mean, finding good mesh + uv mapping effort could eventually make custom model aesthetically good low poly version of one from wow, but that would bring nothing new. I may be interpreting it wrong, but design points would be taken away on basis of that.

So what do you have in mind?

but *cough*cough*, seeing you asked Heinv already, if he is into making Varian, than I won't mind you joining with him.
Personally, I'd avoid making Alliance unit, I'd be more into orcs and similar.
