    Not entirely sure since the Trebuchet seems wide as well, so widening the wooden hull of the ballistae wouldn't be that a good idea. On the other hand maybe play with the wheels. Currently all of these mobile siege weapons are 6 legged spiders.

    "archery machinery goes beyond the platform walls" What could be a nice but not excruciating way to fix this?
    Please note that it takes me 13 work days to give a model a hat without it corrupting the files of my city

    Trebuchets usually need proper stability to keep the weight from dragging backwards and then stop the forward force when shooting.
    Ballistae only need to worry about the shooting part but yes, I guess a bow/crossbow has to be wide for proper arrow/bolt propelling and wood arms flexibility...

    1- Try making the ballista shorter and wider
    2- Change up the front shields
