The Legends of Chimlandia – Adalheiden Tränen

Adalheiden Tränen (translated as Adalheida's Tears) is one of the many waterfalls in Bergenland, a province bordering the metropolitan region of Kleine-Werdenburger.

Full story about this place you can read in comments! 😄
<…> As you can see this toponym, the Aldenbardians often give romantic but sad names to various gifts of Nature - and this waterfall was no exception! According to an old legend, Adelheida, a young woman, personifying her snow-capped mountain peaks with her snow-white face, sat for centuries on one of the hills and sang a beautiful song that echoed throughout the mountain range and enchanted nearby people, animals, birds - even fish - and they gathered to listen to Adelheid’s singing!

However, her singing was interrupted by the invasion of demons, which destroyed everything beautiful nearby: human settlements, nests and lairs of animals and birds - this death of the beautiful doomed Adelheida to eternal mourning of her native place, and her tears turned into a waterfall, the water from which ultimately granted healing to the forest; mountain ice is fragments of her soul...

And even though her singing has stopped, local people say that if you stand next to one of the snow-capped peaks and ask Adelheida if she is alive, a quiet, soft echo, as if from inside the mountain, will come the answer: “I don’t know...”

Of course, most likely, this folk legend hardly has anything in common with reality, but its sad beauty, inspired by the self-sacrifice of the Mountain Maiden, still inspires Aldenbard artists to create musical works, theatrical performances, paintings and poems
