Autocast Attack Enhancer Detect

In DotA, the Obsidian Destroyer has an autocast skill that deals damage based on a percentage of its current mana. How did IceFrog detect autocast spells??
(I'm pretty sure it's based on Searing Arrows/etc. since it also deals the hero's damage.)

I think it comes with a buff placer that lasts almost instantly... so when damage occurs, check for the buff and deal damage bonus...

Thats it. The skill adds a buff and it's an orb effect. When damage is detected, there's a buff check, the dmg is dealt and buff is removed. I know it's a default ability in Wc3. The triggered part is the Damage based on mana.

WHen i want to do such things : i put a buff on the caster, and i detect if an attacker got this buff and i deals the bonus damages.

yeap you can use frost arrow for the buff

just take note that using a DDS is recommended so that the bonus damage will be dealt only when the target gets damaged by the attack...
