WoW model converting

Ok, once you import the model file, what do I need to do? Do I just convert it to mdl and then mdx or do I have to make any script changes or whatever first? If so please tell me what changes I've gotta make. Also what program do I need to convert m2 to mdx? (I have mdlvis)
