If I recall correctly, Blizzard said something about a feature, which lets you work on a map with your friends simultaneously. Is that true or was I just dreaming?
I sorta remember they said something about it... But I have no idea what exactly they said. At this point, the feature does not exist and I doubt Blizzard would've added it in the last week before release.
Underground is just a bunch of rock dodads raised with page up button. So working together on one map is actually mailing someone your map and waiting till he'll send back an edited version.
Basically, all data editor information is stored in XML files in the map. Meaning that using an mpq editor, you can have one person working on terrain, another on data, then easily combine both into one map.

I think the multiple users working on a single map/level is really only useful to professionals on the same network (demonstrated on the hero engine). But im not opposed to Blizzard putting in time and resources developing this feature.
I would expect to see this in an expansion. All that syncronization code and debugging will take time but equally well the majority of the work is done so it feels like an expansion feature.
