this one's very recent:
An Austrian bank robber who demanded 10,000 euros was baffled when a cool-headed bank clerk told him he was at the wrong counter. Stumped by the move, the robber fled the Graz bank empty-handed.

here is another funny one:
Thieves who stole 25 shoes from a car in Bergen, Norway, were left hopping mad after realising the shoes were all for left feet. The car belonged to a salesman who travelled with only one shoe of each type.
