Water Size Problems

How do I make the water appear only inside the platform and not in the open space? And no I do not want to increase the cliff level around it, I want it to be a thin line with water and space around it. ^^ So how do I do this?

Currently it is not known if this can be done and I have yet to see an example where it is done.
