War for the Galaxy V. 0.93

Fight for domination of the galaxy with four unique factions:
The United Earth Republic (mostly balancing left)
The Terran Empire (mostly balancing left)
The Dyranum Directorate (mostly balacing left)
and the Xitin Aliens (largely completed)

fight on land or in space with a number of different units.

The United Earth Republic(UER) specialises in a well-rounded force.

The Terran Empire rely on advanced and expensive units.

The Dyranum Directorate rely on massive planetary defenses and sheer weight of numbers

The Xitin Aliens rely on massive numbers to destroy their enemies(and i think that they take infestation to abit extreme(alot of their abilities are some kind of infestation)).

Very interesting map, I like the idea of planetary landing, however, it needs to be refined more. Ground units are largely useless since space ships can land on planet at will and pretty much overcome any defense. And what's the purpose of space station? I think it's just adds to the confusion.

Overall, I think it has a lot of potential. Keep up the good work!

Well, i am planning to make ground combat have more meaning but i haven't done that because there are some difficulties(Xitin Aliens). Although i may do that in later versions(but some things may look wierd). And besides ground combat is just spamming Snipers so that will have to be dealt with first. The purpose of the Space Stations is so i can have the special shipyard somewhere and the units that you get once you research spacetech level 1. They can also be useful to build ship production facilities in an out of the way place.

you need to make the weapon and armor upgrades more expensive because at the moment they are very powerful

You need to make a limit on the amount of planetary defences you can have or make them cost food

Keep up the good and this map will be popular in no time

EDIT: I just played a few more games on Bnet and the xitin aliens are now far to weak I suggest you give them some kind of heavy carrier and maybe a unit that creates blight so you dont have to build a hive on every world

I Tried the map out, I was satisfied but some things can be improved.

+Creative Idea
+Solar system area and random planets/Stations made me smile.
+Pirates, Ftw.

some negatives.
-Please check some of your spelling and tool tips [Example, it says Train Peasant instead of construction vehicle or whatever it was.]
-Basically everything in the beginning is Research and building up.
-Very little guidance in the beginning noobs will be confused.

Great start, Keep up the awesome work! =]

Nah, not everything is research since it isn't required to research ground troops (but it certainly helps to research it) and that doesn't really count for the Xitin Aliens does it? (they can just go zerg rush)

Well, that tooltip thing says train peasant cuz i'm too lazy to change it, heh, maybe i'll do that later on, and I just MAY add help things in the credits & info tab but, not many will read it anyway so i thought: what's the point? If ye understand what i mean.
And you ain't required to buildup once ye get like spacetech (but it never hurts to get more units does it?)

Oh and the solar systems and stations ain't really random. (that depends on how ye mean)

Well, it's my favorite map i've made (and certainly one of the more serious ones) so i did put alot of work into it :)

Interesting concept, having space and different planets and all. Unfortunately, the thing letting you down the most is the look of the terrain on the mini-map. Perhaps you could replace this with a more atractive looking texture? However, if you did that, I doubt anybody would know where anything is....

Also, you tend to have a habit of making each planet dreadfully small. I thought planets would at least take some space, but you seem to sum them up with enough space to place a few buildings before you are over-populated.

Maybe next time you make a map like this, you could change the size to at least 3/4 of the maximum (although an epic sized map would allow more for the effect you want).

Hey great map, i tried it out and was wondering if maybe i could get permission to edit this? I would like to add some races because just 4 races isn't very fun :sad: I was thinking maybe make pirates another player and maybe 2-3 more races, expand the map a little, unless its already at the largest it can get. So what do you say?

Just to clarify:
The map is as large as it can get with standard W.E. limits.
I know that the planets are small, but the maximum map size is too small to allow for bigger planets.

I think Blizzard should increase it with starcraft 2, which would allow for a recreation of the map on a much more epic proportions and with a more sci-fi feeling.

And besides I only have 4 races because well, I think it works best, and besides, I already have a complete and complex backstory worked out for them which leaves little room for many other factions.

Pirates are left unplayable because their pirates, they have no empire.

Maybe this will answer some questions.

few sugestions:
1 energy needs to regen faster on large ships (on dreadnaut if u turn on shields it takes years to reharge wut 1 sec of dmg can do)
less dmg, i have seen times where i was playing as aliens and by the time i looked back to tell the other 12 of my units to attack the first 12 were dead no kidding

otherwise 4/5

Err, Human Flag ship underpowered?


I was playing with my friend (who was Terran class) And we decided to 1v1 with our flagships... But i realiesd that the human flagship was abit.. weak?

Human Flagship:
HP: 5100
Damage: 911-911 (Level 11 Weapon Upgrade)
Cost: 9K Gold (Forgot lumber cost was around 11k)
Armour: 9 (Level 10 Armour upgrade)

Terran Omega Dreadnoughtship:
HP: 10000
Damage 1000-1000 (No Upgrades)
Cost: 12K Gold : 15K Lumber
Armor: 27 (with Level 10 upgrade)

So i dont know if that's meant to be, or just a bug..
