UVW coordinates

if you unwrap an UVW and edit it, will it remember the coordinates by pixel location or overall texture size?

also, how can i see the real texture while using edit mesh?

and how do i select a viewport background image, match bitmap and lock zoom pan are on, but i can only select the box i made or the background itself.
