How do u get a model to use alternate animations once say an armour upgrade is researched. I would rather not replace the unit but if it comes to that.

You can check the troll berzerker upgrade for the orcs, it makes unit X unavailable and unit Y available, so you'd use 2 different units

Otherwise you can add animation tags to the relevant units via triggers and unit groups depending on how the models are set up
