Unprotecting my map

So its been about 2 years since I have been active on here and I wanna get back to work on my map "I am legend", but I seem to have lost all the unprotected map files. Is there any way to unprotect the protected version so its back to normal?

Not really. A lot of data is lost when "protecting".

Map deprotection is a taboo in here.

If you used ExtProtect, you can recover it by typing your password. All those fancy deprotection tools won't work. I'm afraid you got bad luck.

The main problem is that a lot of editor only data is destroyed permanently. This means that it can still be played in game but the editor will not be able to load it. An example is all GUI trigger data is destroyed (only the main JASS script is kept).

...which is, if I'm right, all done in a single JASS scrypt?

There may still be a few things you can recover via MPQ editor. (depending on which protector you used) It is worth a shot.

But otherwise, you should probably start from scratch.

dude man i love your map , i got the same error and dsg told me the same, there is no way to do it , however , i found a way to do some of the stuff easier
once you unprotect your map you recover your units and terrain you just need to redo the triggers, place units and recover models , which is tedious but atleast is something.

I stopped dev'ing map too since last year. and I deleted the original maps but then here I want to dev again but the maps i only have are here on hiveworkshop which are protected Looks like Ill start from scratch.

This is why I advise people to keep an editable copy of their map in the public domain.
