where do i find a trigger that looks somthing like this:

set 'my variable' equal to Int/Agi/Str of target unit of ability being casted

You do not, as that is not a trigger. I think you may be refering to an action. To do this you need an integer value field, there will then be a hero stat option. You then just pass that the hero stat and the hero you want the stats of.
