Ok, just wondering if someone else has run into this.

Let's say I want to translate a map into Chinese. I have the translation (in Chinese), which is ready to be pasted into the World Editor.

Unfortunately though, the World Editor doesn't seem to like me copy/pasting Chinese characters - it just ends up showing ??????? rather than actual Chinese characters.

The worst part is: this happens even when I use a Chinese version of the World Editor, running it via Applocale in Chinese, and with my keyboard set to Chinese.

Anyone have any advice on how to translate maps into Chinese effectively?

Does your Windows installation have the Chinese language pack installed? Without it all Chinese text will not be visible in the operating system and anything that depends on it for character display (programs like Word will still show them as they have their own text rasterizer and separate Fonts/Typefaces).

Thanks everyone.

I eventually got this to work by running a Chinese install of Warcraft III and restarting my computer with full Chinese language settings (ie, input, location, non-Unicode settings... everything).

Bit of a pain but at least it works.
