Tranlating Maps

Why don't you just deprotect the map and re-write it all from in-game screenshots, or just not protect it in the first place.

The problem with that is I want to translate protected maps that aren't mine.
Also when you deprotect a map you always end up losing models that are vital to the map.
Thank you for that Dr. Super Good, I will look for that file.

I found the file, but I'm at the roadblock of what I open it with.
Should I open it with a hex editor?
Notepad?
I guess I'll just play around with different programs.

The file dr super was talking about is the .wts string-file.
But the wc3mapOptimizer inlines this strings into the .j - so this won't help you.
You have to replace the strings inside the war3map.j
The ObjectEditor Data may be curropted or deleted by the optimizer, but I don't know for sure.
You could try to export it and import it into a blank map and then modify, export, import.
