Towers shooting horizontally

Also try adding a region to the right side of the tower (unless you plan to build a ton of these things) and a trigger that registers the unit's entry into that region. Edit in the object editor that your tower can only attack (something obscure like Ancient) and then when the unit enters the region add the classification "ancient" (or other obscure) and remove the classification when the unit exits the region via another trig.
 
I do plan to build a ton of these things. And they're on my team.

I was thinking of making a bullet unit and spawning it at regular intervals. It would have to spawn directly to the right of the tower so it could run in a straight line.

I made two abilities, a dummy ability (is that what it's called?) costing 0 mana and the actual ability costing 1 mana. The tower has 0 mana.

      • Unit - A unit Finishes casting an ability
    • Conditions
      • (Ability being cast) Equal to dummy ability?
    • Actions
      • Unit - Set mana of (Casting unit) to 1.00
      • Unit - Order (Casting unit) to Orc Tauren Chieftain - Shockwave (Point(((X of (Position of (Casting unit))) + 20.00), (Y of (Position of (Casting unit)))))
When I cast the thunderclap, it gives the tower 1 mana and uses the ability completely horizontally ( x 20, y 0)!

I'm sure there's a better way to set coordinates though ;P

Now what I would like to do is make thunderclap autocast and "hide" the actual aility from the screen. Button positions maybe?

Whenever that tower attacks, just check the angle its attacking from. If its not towards the right of the unit, issue it a command to stop.

It can be automated for constructed towers too if you just throw in a unit id check.
 
you can use triggers to autocast thunderclap, set the event so when your tower attacks it creates a dummy with the thunderclap spell at the desired position and order it to use it,
btw why not use his way?
