There are many model editing and creating programs, but unfortunately if you want something high quality they cost money. If you have the money, I would recomend using 3ds max (available at www.discreet.com), and if not you could alternatively try Milkshape 3D (www.milkshape.org), 3D Canvas (I'm not sure what the site for it is, try some earlier posts). For free you can get Gmax or Maya learning edition (Gmax is also created by discreet).

It might be worthwhile to make a tutorial then, on how to import models into GMax. It might cut down on the number of times people ask how one uses GMax to edit. I think it would be useful, as GMax is free, and easily acquired by most.

Thanks to Sir_Raziel_69, I have a program that can convert mdx->3ds and another that converts 3ds->mdx. If you want them you can either PM me or contact me on MSN or AIM. If enough people want it, I'll get Darky28 to upload it onto the site.

I'm going to get them uploaded onto the site, but only if Gmax can accept 3ds or obj models, which I highly doubt since 3ds max doesn't accept any of those. I'm trying Maya Personal Learning Edtion (also free ad probably better than Gmax) to see if it can handle 3ds or obj. I'll post my progress as soon as I get home.
