The Winter Queen explained that this artifact was meant to serve as a "vessel of renewal", and that she had offered the many night elf souls who died during the Burning of Teldrassil and had been saved from the Maw the chance to stay in Ardenweald, but that they had all chosen to become part of a "new beginning" for their people instead. The souls were infused into the tear, and it was transformed into a "seed", one touched by both Ardenweald and the Emerald Dream and embodying the balance of Death and Life. The Winter Queen gifted the seed to Tyrande and hoped that it would bring the night elves happiness and peace.
