Strange Dark Screen problem

Hello, it started today when I launched warcraft 3, no matter what gamma I set in the options, every time I open warcraft 3 or even just minimize and maximize back into it, it goes very dark.
It only seems to happen in warcraft 3 and no other game.

If anyone has any ideas, thanks.

I had a similar problem some time ago, not with Warcraft III but with pretty much every full-screen game. The screen went darker for some time, and then back to its original brightness. This could happen at any time, regardless of the game or its graphic settings. I know it sounds obvious, but you could try updating your drivers.

I already did update the drivers.
It only seems to happen to warcraft, as I tried many other applications and games.

Is this a new display/monitor you are using? Is it a new computer you are using?

It could be caused by dynamic brightness. When scenes are very dark it will automaticly increase brightness. Equally well, bright scenes like a white web-page will cause it to decrease brightness. Due to the nature of feedback control systems, there is a slew rate, especially since they are atleast criticly dampening the control system to prevent ossicilations.

It might also be due to power management options trying to save power in some way (as brighter usually uses more power). This is especially possible in laptops where power management is crutial to their function.

It's a laptop which is about a month old now.

If it's a laptop, does the issue occur when it's unplugged from a power source? My laptop dims the screen when it's unplugged.

Does it use a hybrid graphic card system? It could be that when it changes graphic cards the brightness changes.

Well, I wouldn't know if it's hybrid, although I doubt it since it only started to happen today.
And it happens both when on power and when without.

If it was the energy save plan it should not be caused by alt-tab.

Try to run wc3 with -opengl parameter.

Not sure if this question is still open though...

No it's not open anymore, it fixed itself upon the next reboot.
