Start new project

Hello everyone, I am a fan of the old maps of warcraft 3, I would like to know how I can start my own project based on the idea of a very old map in which the author has not answered messages for more than 10 years.
I want to start from 0 without using tiggers or other intellectual property more than the general idea implementing things by myself and other authors with their respective credit for their work as well as the author of the base idea.

My question. I can do it? What should I put in the description?
for example:
-Based on X map by X author.
-Old map X author Updated by X new author.
-Unoficial X map
-What should I write?

About me, I am 43 years old with few free hours that I dedicate to this hobby of learning about tiggers and customizing things in world editor.
My programming knowledge is basic but enough to have the satisfaction of making things work with a lot of love and dedication.
