Spawn of dragon boss model

I fell in love with this model. But guy who did that must be kidding us with texture weight (600kb!) Can anyone make similiar model or reduce this one's weight? Plz. +rep.

You do know that that model do not use a custom texture?

Hm. Maybe. I don't know much about models texturing. Can anyone make a good custom lighter skin for it? All I need is armoured-spiky, spiky, or armoured dragon spawn. I think this model needs custom skin
