I met this girl on campus one night,
her hair was dark and her smile shined bright.
I looked at her and felt something ignite,
a fire had been started, by her amber sight.
Yet back then there was no way of knowing,
what would soon within my heart be glowing.
For, you see, this pyre is now overflowing,
an inferno vast with no signs of slowing.
Your gaze, your laugh, they gave me power,
to rise from the ashes and the shadows scour.
And now I thank you deeply with this written flower,
for you were there, in my darkest hour.
