Hi, I'm SilverSong the player in RoC on Battle.net. I've been playing Custom WC3 games for about a year now, and I want to edit/change a few of the older maps around. I'm trying to keep to the simplest changes first, but it seems I need an older version of the map editor first.

Everytime I save changes it converts from w3m to w3x which I then can't open or even use. It makes no sense to me... why would it save in a format I can't later open? And why won't it at least let me choose my exports whether I want w3m or w3x? All the other powerful editing programs let you save their files as older versions if you want.

I have 7+ years experience in lots of different college level computer graphics programs.

These are my three projects, I'm trying to work on.

Ninja Arena version 1.2 - Active - I can edit it the way I want in the editor, but it keeps saving as .w3x and therefore won't work, and I can't re-open it with the editor. I have warcraft version 1.12, and I've read about it not wanting to save .w3m files.

However, a real puzzler is I can make my own new maps with the editor, and it won't give me any problems with .w3x conversions.

I really don't want to try and recreate Ninja Arena from scratch because it's a very complicated map.

Lastly, is there a way to get the full, entire map to print out so that I can use it for AD&D sessions?

w3x is the extension of FT maps which you can't open. Some of your triggers are only available in FT.
w3m is for normal RoC

Where do I find this FT then? Would I need to remove my triggers before doing edits, and is there a tutorial on that.

btw are they any good:

The Ninja map could be 1000x better, it's really just an old arena map that seems to be the original for Angel Arena and 7 blades. The Ninja map as it is now, has a buggy immortal drink item in it that makes the game crash if you use it too much. It's also a little off-theme that it has greek & roman gods mentioned when it's suppose to be Ninja & Japanese themed.

I keep coming up with new things to do with it, but I want to get the simple things done first. I also want to make some significant hero changes so that they reflect more on true Ninjas of the past, and not on just characters from Warcraft 3.

You know Luna makes a great Ninja from Japanese legends about certain families of Ninja who could transform themselves into tigers to escape being tracked? They actually kept tame tigers for use as short rides in an escape.

I also want to really change the ending scene to be more Ninja instead of the podium with the losing team going to hell. Possibly have the losing team get their heads all cut off, and the winning team invited to attend a Tea Ceremony.

I also want to change the Teams from Team 1, and Team 2 to either Ryu 1, Ryu 2, or actually naming the Ryu's, Flaming Fury Phoenix Ryu (Team 1), & Fierce Fighting Black Dragon Ryu (Team 2) but I don't know if there's a letter limit.

I want to re-name, add, change and alter a lot of ingame items to things from Goblin Nightscope to Ninjutsu Nightscope, Moon glaives to either Stars or Shuriken, Create/Add new custom jpeg files for more Ninja weapons, Belt of Giant Strength to Obi Kanu (Belt of Ninja), Rod of Mastery to Katana of Blinding Vengence, Tomes of Power to Ninjutsu Family Secrets, Magic Sentries to Ninjutsu Sentries, Change all flags to custom Ninja banners & flags.



Ice Dragons Hunt was an improved version of an old DragonSlayers game that someone made but that old DragonSlayers map was pretty bad, so someone made Ice Dragons Hunt. Now I want to improve that with some caves for the dragons, and possibly some realistic dragon eggs. (instead of using giant colored land mines)



SilverSong Arena - based on yours truly, I haven't thought it through 100% but I'm thinking of a combination Arena & Loap thing.

Frozen throne is very cheap now and is a really good expansion (especially for online). i recommend you look on amazon or ebay and get a cheap copy. some very good maps can be made with it.

I highly recomend frozen throne as few people play chaos reign anymore, plus blizzard works more on FT than RoC. The map editor is superior as well as the game play itself. Last I looked it was around €25 or so. Any other questions please put them in the appropriate forum, and thank you for your good english. I highly recomend thoroughly looking over our rules and regulations, just to prevent any kind of anomoly or misunderstanding.

I'm sorry I didn't realize what u all meant by FT, yeah I have it. FT is to fast for my slow computer. I maxed the RAM on my Pent 2, computer to get it to run Warcraft 3.

Even with 5 Gigs of Ram available I can't run FT.
