SFX issue

hey guys

I got 3dsmax 5 and today I was making a supposedly simple sfx (since I'm still starting at modeling) and so I needed a custom texture for what I wanted

however 3dsmax 5 along with Art Tools seems to only accept textures coming from wc3. It's like I make my own texture, and it gives a fatal error when I try to preview, saying the width height ratio isn't larger than 8:1 or the size wasn't larger than 512.

I don't remember that well, but it was something like this.

Hope someone knows how to solve this.

nope, okay I'm going to change their size now, and see if it works

[edit] damn it now the model appears with one color only, orange, and it might be that color because the texture is almost all orange, and it also appears a message saying:

"The following texture mapped objects have no UVW mapping:

Sphere01"

that's strange because I learned this from a tutorial from here (THW) and it worked while I was doing it.
 
OKay I made it finally, though the texture is ugly on the model:
