The requirements of this project are beyond me. So, I'm calling in the big technical guns!
The Catalyst Cannon featured on the Scrin Mothership from C&C was one of my all time favorite weapons. Youtube has some videos of the Mothership in action.
The mothership would fly over a target, charge for roughly 5 seconds (a persistent laser "painted the target" until the main weapon fired). When the weapon fired at the ground/target, the weapon "detonation" was radial along the ground from the point of impact (with a pretty sweet effect). If hit by the weapon(in its blast radius) the effected ground units would begin turning grey and after roughly 2-3 seconds the units would die. When an effected unit died, another smaller secondary "detonation" was triggered from the center of the now dead ground unit. The secondary "detonation" would hit other units and chain along until nothing was in the radius of the final secondary, tertiary, etc "detonations".
In some instances, a single blast from the Mothership could take out an entire base.
Abilities, Behaviors, Actors, and a full range of other goodies are required for this and I've been unable to sort them all out.
Would anybody mind teaching me how to create a weapon like the Catalyst Cannon?

For the detonations, an effect like that when you place a Maar (Zhakul'das) unit into an editor map might be pretty cool. Just a thought.
