Chapter 1: The Beginning.

Arkion, a once massive empire stands near its extinction. With the arrival of a figure known as Azose, war erupts. Steam machines race across the battlefield to confront demons and monsters. Before long all but one city, Inuwe, stands resolute against this foe. After learning of a collumn advance by the demonic forces they prepare for war. As they do belief of the 'Revenant', an ancient machine lost by the Old Ones may be their only hope. As a search party is assembled, the siege of Inuwe commences. This is the story of that search party.

Arayn unfurled the map of Arkion and the surrounding territories. Slowy he scanned for the Pool of Sorrow. An explosion rippled the ground he stood upon. Quickly he dropped down to the cobbled streets of the city as a Steam Cannon launched its indiscrimate pellets. More Steam Cannons shook the ground of the city as they fired as well. Rifles punctuated the last explosion as it rained iron death upon its foes. As Arayn got up he ran towards a very specific building deep within the city. As he neared the Manufactory someone assigned to his search party ran up aside him. While he ran she muttered numerous undecipherable curses at the coming army. They slowed to a halt at the entrance as a Walker emerged from the main gate. As it headed towards the city gate it shot up a massive flare from the Grenade Launcher built into the side of its massive claw arm.

"It has begun again. Why must we be cursed with this constant struggle for survival." Arayn's female companion spoke.
"Because he wants us gone so he can find all of the Old Ones' artefacts. But it he finds the Revenant, we're all screwed." he quickly responded
"We should get Baron and Laze, they'll understand what we have to go through. Lets get moving before they start fli-" she hastily replied as a rock crushed her body.
A steam cannon exploded as dark energy consumed it. Screams of the dying filled the air. Roars of bloodcrazed demons deafened ears. Rifles went off in fusillades off metal death. Boulders were in the horizon blotting out light. As Arayn ran, so did the gate fall. So did the last city of the Arkion Empire fall.

The walker's steps resounded through the ancient canyon. The grenade launcher stood ready for anything but the usual stone. Steam billowed out from the numerous vents and pipes leading out of the machine as it thundered forth. Arayn opened the top hatch and looked down below to see how the fuel pile was. He closed the hatch and had the machine continously moved forth. Hours later within an ancient ruin, the walker's leg fell into some unknown hole covered by the ages. He quickly got out and inspected the damage. As he did the ground shuddered and he descended into darkness.

Chapter 2: The Ruins

Arayn was dimly aware of his surroundings. He was in some form of room with a corridor leading elsewhere. His walker was damaged beyond reasoning, fuel leaking out of it's tank. The light from above was dim, night approaching. His leg hurt insanely from the fall. As he checked it nothing seemed to be broken or out of place. He quickly rummaged through the wreckage to find a lantern. Filling it with the fuel leaking out of the vehicle he lit it.
