How would I create the effect of glow on a weapon?

For DD360 Sabre - The Hive Workshop - A Warcraft III Modding Site I would like to make it glow blue around the orb. But I have no clue how to do something like that.

Use the plane primitives from Oinkerwinkle. Change the texture to one of those glow.blp things in the mpq, and change the material type to blend (I think?), which hides the black, leaving you a lovely glow.

Additive that would be. Not blend.
